Seeing as today is World Porridge Day, it seemed like a good time to compile my three favorite oatmeal recipes and share them with you. I love eating a delicious bowl of oatmeal for breakfast in the fall and winter months. It’s also nutritious, easy to make and you can vary endlessly with your fave toppings. I like! 1. Chocolate-banana porridge
My all-time favorite. What could be better than starting your day with chocolate? Haha! This choco-banana porridge is the perfect breakfast on a cold, winter morning with a cup of coffee or golden milk… I grab my laptop, dig in and start drumming up inspiration for the day ahead. Best moment of the day!
2. Black mulberry porridge
This delicious porridge is made extra special with the addition of black mulberries. These dried berries are very nutritious, and contain vitamin C, calcium, fiber, iron and protein. They have a naturally honey-like flavor, which is why they are the perfect addition to a bowl of oatmeal. You could also add other dried fruit here, like goji berries or raisins. You’ll whip up this delicious, nutritious brekkie in no time.
3. Carrot breakfast
This warm brekkie will get you through the coldest of mornings, guaranteed. Believe me ; ). When the days get shorter and colder, I always enjoy having a warm breakfast every so often. This porridge benefits from the addition of carrot and I just love making it. The carrot provides a substantial shot of betacarotene, which is good for your eyes and skin. And it also just happens to add a bit of sweetness to the mix. Give it a try!
